We had the Alpacas at the Fair again this year. The Alpacas were a hit as usual. We always enjoy meeting everyone and giving people a chance to meet them and feel their fibre is important . We meet many people who live in our community.

We will have a tour with the Alpacas and you can meet and pet a miniature donkey. We will have spinners and weavers for you to see how Alpaca is made into yarn and into clothing.

Thank goodness shearing day is over for another year. We have a lot of fun but boy is it a lot of work. I am really happy with our fleeces this year. They are very clean too so our hard work to keep our fields and barn clean has paid off. Hardly any VM in them at all. Our top fleece weight got to Myster Luv with a total of 13 pounds usable and 2 pounds we scrapped. So 15lbs in total. WOW!! Sunny was second with 10lbs of fleece. Between the two of them I will have lots of yarn .
We will be entering several of our fleeces in the Navan fair fleece show. We feel they warrant being shown and hopefully we will bring home a few ribbons. So far we have gotten ribbons for every fleece and animals we have shown.
I will post pictures if shearing day as soon as I get mor organized. Ok I promise it will be soon

Well Holly is doing great and is up and around.
We bred Raven to Lorenzo today. He sure is quiet compared to when Sunny is breeding. I think Sunny wants to entire world to know what he is up to !! Hopefully we will get a black baby from this breeding. Lorenzo has a basicly black pedigree. Raven's mom is black and her dad is grey. Then again we are talking about Alpacas so we could end up with a white baby
Went today and finalized the sale of our portable for the new store. Hopefully we will have it set up on the farm in the next 2 weeks.
I am excited to have a real store on the farm. 850 sq ft. Yikes hope I have some customers!!
Had another amazing thing happen today. Savannah my 3 yr old Leonberger saved a kitten from our pool. The kitten must have fallen in and she reached in with her mouth and picked it out. Animals always amaze me!

Today was a pretty exciting day. I had made arrangements for Lorenzo a black Alpaca to come and stay with us. We are useing him to breed to our black girl Raven.
9:30 am Lorenzo arrives. We put him in a paddock and go and look at the other Alpacas. I notice one of my girls is laying down. Then I see this little head sticking up above the grass. Holy crap Innocense had a baby! She was not due until the 27th of August.
I rushed over to look and make sure she was ok. We must have only missed the birth by a few minutes. she still had the membrane over her whcih we pulled off. She is a strong little girl , oh did I mention she is a girl!! That made it even better. She is rose grey and is very pretty and very crimpy. She was up and nursing within the hour.
I thought Margarette was going to have her cria also. So I was going out and checking on her hourly!
go to my website and have a look at our new baby girl. We named her Holly. www.heronviewalpacas.com
